Q: What are your work experiences in the field of journalism?
A: Over the last few years, I have been a reporter and photographer for my hometown’s local newspaper, The Shepherdstown Chronicle, and West Virginia University’s newspaper, the Daily Athenaeum. I also have a personal blog,, focusing on healthy living, where I share recipes, advice and my personal experiences.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: When I’m not at school or waiting tables at Madeleine’s, I fill my time with yoga classes, running, riding my bicycle, cooking and attempting to make pottery. I love listening to music, drinking coffee and spending as much time as I can with my cat, Dori.

Q: What are your long term goals?
A: Currently I would love to work for a magazine specializing in healthy living, and I hope to continue to expand my experience with photography and video to produce documentaries. I also want to travel before trying to find a steady career.

Q: What are the challenges and rewards of telling multimedia stories in West Virginia?
A: West Virginia is a complicated, yet beautiful state. It’s full of rich history and natural beauty that goes unnoticed. With this class, I not only learn about the different areas, their problems and their character, but I get to uncover stories about the state and the people in it that would otherwise go untold.
