“I’ve always said West Virginia is one of the best kept secrets out there.”
Q: What are your work experiences in the field of journalism? A: I have been a reporter, producer, and substitute news anchor for the local CBS affiliate since I was an undergrad. During the 2007-2008 school year, I held the news director position at the campus radio station, WWVU-FM, and was an anchor for the university’s statewide newscast. I’ve also reported for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh in 2008.
Q: What will be contributing to the project? A: In this project, some are writers, others are photographers. For me, it’s all about the editing and videography (or at least getting the computer to turn on).

Q: What do you do in your spare time? A: Ha! What spare time? When I’m not working or in class, I love skiing, traveling, photography, and cheering on my New Jersey Devils.
Q: What awards have your received? A: I placed three times in the William Randolph Hearst Foundation Awards in 2008 and 2009, the regional Society of Professional Journalist’s Mark of Excellence award for feature reporting, and the school’s KDKA/WVU Outstanding Reporter Award in 2008. I was also chosen to report live on MSNBC in 2007 following the shooting investigation at a college apartment complex in Morgantown.
Q: What are your long term goals? A: My heart is still in broadcast news, so I hope (cross your fingers) I can be a reporter somewhere in this vast universe we call “Network TV”. If that fails, I hope to eventually teach broadcast journalism. And if that too fails… well, I’ll get back to you on that.
Q: What are some of your favorites Movies: The Outsiders, Boondock Saints, The Mighty Ducks, and Clerks (I grew up going to that Quick Stop every day in middle school) Favorite books: The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, The Stranger by Albert Camus, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, and works from Timothy McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern. I’m currently reading Ghosts Aliens by Trey Hamburger Favorite music: Less Than Jake, Silverchair, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, The Wedding Present, Sublime, and I’m a sucker for anything on the Fat Wreck Chords label Favorite quote:
