Hometown: Clarksburg, W.Va. Status: Senior Major: News Editorial Role: Student Journalist/Multimedia Trainer
“I am looking forward to not only learning more about my home state, but I am also excited about sharing it with others. There are some really cool people in this state, and I can’t wait to tell their stories.”
Q: How did you get involved with the project? A: Originally some of the other students and I wanted to do a documentary on polygamists. Professor Temple helped us develop the idea of staying in state and covering “under-covered” areas, and the rest is history.
Q: What are your long term goals in life? A: My “ultimate” career goal has changed so much over the years. I’ve wanted to be everything from a war correspondent and a courtroom reporter to an artist and a teacher. As far as journalism goes, I just want to be able to tell people’s stories or get to the bottom of things—publish the truth.

Q: What work experience do you have? A: I had two internships, one at WDTV News Channel 5 in the summer of 2006, and the other at The Charleston Daily Mail in the summer of 2008. I have also worked at WVU’s student newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum since January 2007. I was recently named city editor there.
Q: What’s your favorite website? A: I like the Washington Post site because they’re exploring the multimedia avenue. They’re posting videos and slideshows, and I think it’s nice to have an older newspaper exploring the idea of ‘new media’.
Q: What’s your favorite quote? A: “If you’re going to do something in life, don’t make it minimal. Make it important.”
- Dr. Charles Richard Daniel, Sr., AKA my grandpa.
Q: What’s your favorite food? A: I love chicken tortellini.
