A love for knitting and extra space in her Elkins home inspired Sandra Tolin to open Yarn & Company seven years ago. The registered nurse started the business with hopes of sharing her passion and meeting other knitters in the area.

Along with the sale of high-quality yarns, knitting equipment and handmade goods, Tolin uses her business to foster the local knitting community. Classes are offered in her shop on a regular basis, and she has organized a number of knitting retreats and other events that have helped expand the network of knitters in West Virginia.

Currently, Tolin is preparing to exhibit some of her goods at the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival, which takes place February 11 to 13. She also continues to plan knitting retreats and hold weekly classes in her shop.

Yarn & Company is located on Airport/Country Club Road and is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (304) 636-3760.
